Do You Have Pictures?

If anyone has higher resolution pictures of the Grigg reunion I would love to get them. Just email me at mamavernon@gmail.com and I can post them on this blog. Thanks Helen Carey Vernon daughter of June Carey.

Reunion pictures

These pictures were taken by Gary McCall. They do not have many pixels in them. If anyone has some better pictures email me at mamavernon@gmail.com. I was thrilled at the turnout for the Grigg reunion this year. It was a real cousin party with Dick and Junie there to bring the Grigg atmosphere. Thanks to Alice Carey Hansen for her outstanding preparation and to Mark, Gary and Jared Grigg for the use of the Grigg Bros. building.

Construction!

Burley and the surrounding interstate is under major construction. To avoid delays and detours, you would probably want to take Exit 216, toward Declo, to get to Albion--no matter which direction you are traveling from. That is a straight shot into Albion, and you avoid inner city construction that is rampant in and through Burley. See you all soon, and happy traveling!

Reunion Details

Descendents of Parley Mormon Grigg, Jr. and Thankful Halsey (Hallie) Gardner....we beckon you to join us for a Grigg Family Reunion in Albion, Idaho.
On Saturday, July 10, 2010 we will be gathering at the old LDS church house located at 124 Vaughn Street, in Albion; now the offices of the Grigg Bros (*courtesy of Mark Grigg). ((There will be signs posted along the road leading to the reunion location, so look out for them!))
See the driving directions posted on the right column of this page.
The festivities will begin at 10 am and go until 3pm OR until you darn well wanna go home! Those who want to LINGER LONGER are more than welcome; Mark Grigg has offered his home as a gathering place afterward for those who would like to visit more.
**************
Now, for the nitty-gritty:
Alice Hansen, daughter of June Grigg Carey , will be the contact for this year's reunion. If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or just plain want to talk, you can contact her at 208.678.8524 or 208.312.2763. She would love to hear from you.
We are asking for some volunteers to help with this monumental task! What we've done is create some categorical responsibilities surrounding the event. The following list will indicate the separate activities for which we need family volunteers; anyone from any family who might be willing to help share the burden of planning this undertaking.
-----------------
Reunion Chairperson: Alice Carey Hansen
Secretary: Brittany Haueter Farfan
Facilities/Finances: Golden Grigg Family
Meal Prep:____________-- (gathering food that is brought, organizing a food table, setting tables, table decor, etc.) This will be a Potluck luncheon and each family needs to bring a salad OR veggie tray AND a dessert. The main dish will be Barbeque Pork on a bun and that will be provided.
Geneology Tree:__________ (creating a poster size--since the # of descendants merits such a large size--family tree for everyone to look at, add to, correct, and sign on the day of the reunion)
Kids' games:____________ (creating/bringing activities for the young children to take part in)
Family Pictures:____________ (designating/finding a photographer to take family pictures that day)
Silent Auction set-up:____________
Other outdoor activities:_____________ (creating/bringing sports equipment--balls, nets, etc.--that anyone can enjoy on the lawn)
Clean-up crew:_______________ (obviously, help with cleaning up after all is said and done)
*Family Representative* (Alice has asked that one person from each family--one descendent from each of the 12 children--to represent that family by contacting everyone in that family regarding the reunion, as well as be willing to introduce your family line at 1:30pm that day.)
Current Family Representatives:
Parley Pratt:_____________
William Lamar:_____________
Eugene:______________
Anthon Wells:______________
Leah Vesta: Brittany Farfan
Golden Theodore: Jared Grigg
Francis Nephi: Laurel Grigg
Julia Kathryn:_______________
James Wilford:_______________
June Thelma: Alice Hansen
Heber J:_____________
Lawrence Richard:___________

If you are remotely interested in helping on this special day, please contact Alice at the phone number listed above!! We greatly appreciate all who are willing and able to help! And remember, you don't solely have to be responsible for a category. You can, and should, delegate within your immediate/extended family line to others to help you--we just need someone to be the leader in each category.

*****************
Now, we have a tentative schedule outlined for the day's events. Please note that this is subject to change between now and the big day. So, check back often to see what, if anything, has possibly changed. And, if you have any input on what you would like to see happen, please leave a comment or call Alice.

10:00 Arrive, get settled
11:00 Tour of newly remodeled offices inside the building (thanks to Mark Grigg)
11:30 Family Pictures
After pictures--we will EAT!! (Remember, this is a potluck, so don't forget a salad (or veggie tray) and dessert!)
1:30 Introduction of families
2:00 Ancestor Spotlight
For this spotlight time, you may choose an ancestor of your that you would like to spotlight. Maybe tell a story about this person, or some experience they have had that has influenced your life. There are no requirements for what you can say or who you can spotlight, but we'd love to hear some stories about others in our LARGE extended family. The whole goal is to get volunteers to share these stories, so call Alice if you have a great idea for someone you'd like to spotlight!
Those signed up to spotlight so far include:
Laurel Grigg

**Angie Grigg will also be reporting on some wonderful geneology findings in the MOSES GRIGG line that occurred through DNA Testing; thanks to past fundraisers.
------------------------
And in between, there will be loads of mingling, children's activities, other activities and more mingling!
**We will be having a family silent auction (be thinking of what you could bring for that) as a fundraiser for more family reunions in the future.
There is also a friendly children's park 2 SHORT blocks away from where we will be. (Albion "blocks" are smaller compared to typical street blocks.)

**Feel free to bring lawn chairs, balls/nets/sports equipment of your own. There are not a lot of trees on the open lawn outside, so we will have canopies set up, but bring your own if you'd like. Plan for a sunny day; don't forget the hats and sunblock!

*****************
We can't wait to see everyone on JULY 10th! Schedule this exciting reunion on your calendars today! And don't forget to look at the directions on the right had side of this post!
